What is Geothermal?

Geothermal systems utilize the natural ground temperature to assist in heating and cooling your home or building.  These systems are not only environmentally friendly, they are also energy efficient, safe, and quiet.

Keep reading below to find out exactly how these systems work and the many benefits they have to offer!

A geothermal heat pump system uses the ground temperature to assist in the heating and cooling process.  A vertical loop is typically drilled deep into the ground and piping is placed into these holes.  As liquid is pumped through this loop, it is naturally cooled in the summer and heated in the winter by the difference in temperature of the ground it is passing through.

Some benefits of Geothermal:

  • Environmentally Friendly
  • Energy Efficient
  • Cost Effective
  • Safe
  • Quiet
  • Flexible Applications
  • Reliable and Long Lasting

How Does it Work?

As the seasons change throughout the year, the air temperature varies from close to 100 degrees to all the way down close to 0.  Even though the air temperature changes drastically, the earth’s temperature below ground stays relatively constant.  This fairly even and predictable temperature is what makes geothermal heating and cooling possible.

The geothermal systems we install and service use the earth’s temperature as its main energy source to heat and cool your home or building.

DID YOU KNOW THE EARTH’S TEMPERATURE BELOW

GROUND AVERAGES BETWEEN 55-70 DEGREES F ALL YEAR LONG!

HEATING

Geothermal Loops get heated by the relatively warmer temperatures below ground and bring that warmth back into your home or building as they circulate through it.

AIR CONDITIONING

Geothermal Loops take the heat out of your home or building and get cooled by the relatively cooler ground temperatures as they circulate through it.
